Holes or No Holes Redux

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A question that will never be settled. Well, it has long been settled for me, but the majority of people think otherwise.
Some believe the Earth is flat, that no one has walked on the moon. Some believe that a paddle with holes is meaner than an identical one without holes. OBB readers ask AI.
Back in February, a reader asked AI to weigh in on:
Holes or No Holes
Now, another reader posed the question to Google AI
Leaving aside the physics determining the force of impact, are there psychological elements that make it seem worse to be spanked with a paddle with holes in it than with one with similar dimensions, weight, and type of wood?
Google AI responded as follows, providing support for a psychological effect (though some of what it pulls up is tripe, IMHO. I mean, have y'all ever met a spankee who whines about having "trypophobia"?!)
AI OVERVIEW
Assuming that the physical force of impact is equal, several psychological elements can make a spanking seem worse with a perforated paddle. These factors can heighten anxiety and emotional distress before and during the punishment.
INTIMIDATION AND THREAT
Symbolic threat. The holes in the paddle act as a clear, visible sign that the implement is designed for inflicting maximum pain. This visual detail creates a heightened sense of intimidation and a more significant psychological threat than a solid paddle.
Deliberate design. Knowing that the holes were specifically engineered for punishment suggests an intention to maximize discomfort. This deliberate cruelty, whether real or perceived, can feel more malicious than an action taken with a simple, solid object.
ANTICIPATION AND ANXIETY
The "buzz" or sound. As the holed paddle moves through the air, it can create a distinctive "whooshing" or buzzing sound. This aural cue can increase anticipation and dread as the recipient waits for the inevitable strike. The sound becomes a built-in trigger for anxiety, possibly worse than the quiet approach of a solid paddle.
The wait. The psychological impact of corporal punishment is often rooted in the anticipation of the event. Seeing or hearing the specialized paddle can increase this pre-punishment anxiety, making the waiting period more stressful and emotionally taxing.
FOCUS ON CONSEQUENCES AND HUMILIATION
Exaggerated markings. Paddles with holes often leave more distinct, patterned marks on the skin. A person who knows they will bear these specific imprints may feel a greater sense of shame or humiliation. The patterned bruises act as a "proof" of the punishment, creating a more memorable and potentially embarrassing physical consequence.
Increased focus on pain. The visual marks, along with the "hornet-like" sting sensation sometimes described, make the focus of the punishment the inflicted pain itself, rather than the behavior that prompted it. This can reinforce a feeling of helplessness and emotional distress, as the pain is what is most vividly remembered.
INVOLUNTARY REACTIONS
Trigger for discomfort. For some people, particularly those with trypophobia (aversion to clustered holes), the sight of the holed paddle can trigger a visceral reaction of disgust or discomfort before any physical contact is made. This adds a layer of distress that is unrelated to the physical strike but contributes to the overall negative psychological experience.
I think that is a decent answer from the view that it’s a punishment. Since I don’t believe paddling is a real punishment, I discard most of the answer.
If the spankee thinks it will cause pain, the wait, the anticipation, the fear will be amplified even when it’s exactly what she wants.
I have never heard a paddle make a buzz. Poor hearing?
I have never noted any rings made by the holes. Of course, I sanded the holes smooth on the few I made with holes.
trypophobia???
Holes or not, I would wager more adult women have experienced a wooden paddle than have female adolescents.
Is she purring?
She is either offering you a choice or showing you both paddles she is going to use on you.
This one should cover the widest of bottoms
  1. Is there an audio book version of that? To me all those paddles in the pictures, holes or no holes, look like clubs. I have found that thin paddles sting the most. One of my wife's favorite is the larger paint paddle from Home Depot. Also, the paddles with the ball (ball removed of course) have the same effect. A bright red bottom that stings and burns for a long time after from a long slow spanking.
    1. Audio book? What's the matter Lee, too many words?
      You missed the post a few months ago where I discussed in loving detail that weight is way more important than thickness. You can't judge a paddle by looking at it.
      Besides this was about holes or no holes being a psyco deal.
  2. I realize we’ve never used a large paddle, only smaller ones which smack one buttock at a time. We’ve used plenty of straps, whips and switches which smack both side simultaneously.
    Irene’s current favorite implement is a small wooden paddle. It hurts like the dickens. There’s absolutely no need to reduce air resistance by drilling holes. I can’t imagine why it would be necessary.
    I don’t generally fantasize about large paddles, except in my twisted view of a sorority initiation. Campus rules have forbidden the use of paddles on pledges, but the sisters decide pledges should learn to wield the paddle and I am chosen to be paddled by the whole sorority during their initiation ceremony.
    1. Once cheek at a time no matter the size of the paddle is our rule.
  3. My go to is my ping pong paddle so no holes it has a plastic coating that came from the manufacture-- the rubber coat would have to be removed otherwise in my view. I like leather belts and slappers, different sting then a thin paddle -- fantasized sorority initiation by the girl pledges-- interesting-- did you write that story Rosco ?
  4. Interesting read… then there is the debate over “stingy” vs “thudy” paddles… different strokes for different folks I guess :)
  5. If a holed paddle is making a buzzing sound, then it might be worth checking out that there is not a Hornet jammed in one of those holes :)
