Those girls who wore short skirts in the 69-'70 era are now grandmothers and great grandmothers. We have seen several red cars in the last week. None were available two months ago. Does this mean a change in culture? Will skirt lengths change? Will women start dressing to look good again?
As I scrolled down the list a few times today. I found myself stopping at "Just Remember" each time. I remember those days, the guys spent so much time making their cars as fast as they could! Those were great old times, and yes today's generations doesn't appreciate cars like we did. They were dangerous "bombs" on wheels. Good luck if you have to try to stop one. No disc brakes, seat belts/ air bags or computers. So many times, they ended up in pieces wrapped around a tree. Ahh the good old days. Oh and I patted the girl mechanics bottom on the way past too! Thanks Bogey!!
I am not the only old fart who thinks the muscle cars looked better than anything Detroit has built in a coupla decades. The combination of the styling of the day, plus Vroom and gals in short shorts...well, times were good even if the brakes sucked. Commander Code was kinder, "The brakes are good, tires fair." You could get going, damn quick, but oh lordy, if you had to stop. My Dad had a dealership. I think I sucked up all the profit wrecking cars. I remember I was driving a red 57 Chevy two-door. I cranked it up, and the transmission blew seals. I did not even rev it. With my history, it was not worth pleading the truth.
I can not say this about many things, but Grapevine Hill was before my time, before I-5 paved over it. My jaw did drop the first time I descended into San Bernardino - I never expected anything that steep.
Pleased that several people enjoyed my offbeat pictures today. The gal with the fox tail. and him with a game controller. I could not resist patting the cheeks of the gal wrenching.
I was definitely not disappointed with the pictures. Especially loved Mardi Gras in Nebraska -- I'm tempted to show it to my grandmother who grew up there and raves about what a fun place it is. Thanks much!
