hard to believe that it has been almost 50 years since the bi-centennial. I spent that in Singapore when the USS Ranger made a port call. The local newpaper said the ship was open for visiting and people came, They quickly put hotdogs and drinks on the flight deck for the guests. A memorable day.
OMG I was there also! I watched from Liberty State Park, the place was jammed but it was a sight to behold. I still keep a commemorative painting of the event on my office wall above my desk. I see it every day. Happy 4th , thanks for the post!
Happy 4th to all. Lovely example of an All American Girl in that photo.
I hope to see the 250th celebration. Hard to believe 50 years ago I watched the Tall Ships sail up the Hudson from the top of the Twin Towers. We were fortunate enough to have reservations at Windows of the World which was the restaurant at the top of the tower. Incredible view. That was also the first fireworks display in the lower bay. So much had changed on 50 years.
Thank you for your blog. I stop by almost every day and I'm never disappointed.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me feel good. THanks
