I started OBB to say that spanking could be mutually erotic for both the spankee and the spanker. Spanking fun. I knew it would be a niche blog as the spanko world is so invested in punishment and discipline.
I maintain that spanking, however severe or frequent, will not change behavior. I understand that some spankees require a reason to be spanked, and they will, again and again, engage in forbidden behavior to earn a spanking. That the spanker buys into this foolishness and continues the believe he is helping cure the behavior is incredible to me. That the spankee engages in senseless activity is, well, their business.

What's sorely missing from spanking blogs are accounts of real-life spankings. Surely, I am not the only man to have spanked a gal. It seems as if everyone else is wrapped up in fantasy. The men know the names of the pros, but have they ever spanked anyone?

On your 'mutual enjoyment vs behavior modification' observations, perhaps the two aren't as mutually exclusive as they might seem, relative to the pursuit of erotic enjoyment / satisfaction. Does the 'mindset' of why one enjoys spanking play really matter? Would suggest it doesn't to the one in question. The 'idea' of discipline, punishment, behavior modification, power exchange, et. al, for many has an element they find stimulating, either mentally or overtly physical. Most are just window dressings for the imagination. Erotic mental lingerie in the same way a pirate or schoolgirl outfit speaks to others.
End of the day, any and all of that, whatever it might be; holds an association of some form with spanking or being spanked... which in turn is rooted somewhere within one's sexuality.
I would agree with you the odds, or 'true' usefulness, of adult spanking or discipline as an effective behavior modifier is likely minimal. Ergo, probably not the real point of it. May seem overly prevalent as a dynamic in the spanking community at large, but I suspect its real purpose for most is erotic mental stimulation. No harm there that I see provided it's the proverbial safe, sane and consensual.

Some men truly believe that spanking will correct undesired behavior. The behavior could be deemed undesired by either him or the woman. Either way, it's a fool's errand.
If he is spanking her because she convinces him she wants to change, he needs to be a constant hawk. She will get pissy if he misses the misbehavior or does not correct her. That, my friend, gets burdensome quickly.
Some men look for "misbehavior" as a justification for spanking. Think of all the cheerleader spankings for being late to practice. Yeah, just that silly.
There was a blog where the guy convinced his wife to spank him for infractions. Such as having a third glass of wine. If he felt needy, he would get rise out of her in the kitchen where wooden spoons were handy for instant correction. I resist branding her stupid for thinking she was accomplishing something positive.

Tex and Bogey are probably right in most instances, but there are no limits to the different dynamics of relationships, which suggests that in at least some relationships spanking for punishment works for them. We can only know what has been our own experience, and as Bogey says, some third party accounts are fantasy.
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of men not publishing their spanking experiences: I have had many outstanding spanking sessions, but there is not much point in publishing any of it, as it will read like one of those fantasy postings!
At some point Bogey may publish a photograph of a london party, at which I was probably an attendee, that's about as close as it will go for any account of my spanking experiences. Perhaps one day, I might share how the Snow Maiden earned her title, and quite the sorest of bottoms. But then again, it will be dismissed as fantasy!

I suppose part of my point is, we all live in a world of fantasy where sex is involved. Is penetrative sex simply an agreeable genital sensation, or is there a lot more about the act itself which makes it pleasurable and 'erotic', far beyond the simple tactile enjoyments it provides? Why does 'the chase' or being the one 'chased' excite us? Why do librarians in tight jeans appeal? Why do feisty gals being feisty make our palms itch? Why do I enjoy the look of a hairbrush in a woman's hand???
The guy with the blog who seeks wifely discipline for infractions either a) has constructed a fantasy world he wished he lived in; or b) likes to get laid, is living the dream and is sharing the romantic details he and his spouse enjoy. Living out his/her/their fantasies where he being spanked (for correction) is itself sexual, or at least, foreplay. Some find 'denial' sexy... for reasons I know neither you nor I share.

It can be lot more. Especially in teenage sex. There, one party will be in love, and the other may be non-plussed. As we gain experience we can tell the difference between love and lust.
There is a gal who wants to set the record for boinking 1,000 men in 24 hours. There are 1,440 minutes in 24 hours. So about 1.5 minutes per guy. That's fast even for an 18 yo. I would like to see how she manages it - two guys would be enough for me to see how she does it.

OBB had a section called spanking is complicated. It really is in so many ways. There are those of us who just like to be spanked and spank because we love the sensation and the after effects. They like to see their partner smiling and enjoying the whole process before during and after. There is another group who are looking for the punishment/ discipline aspect of spanking or being spanked. Does it actually make a difference in behavior? Maybe not, but both sides are getting what they need and that's all that counts. There is still another "macho" component who want to be able to get through a severe spanking without tapping out, There is the spanker Female(or Male) who wants to see his/her partner "take it" and is proud of their pain tolerance. There are also those who enjoy taking their partner to the breaking point and a bit beyond. Ad infinitum! If one looks on spankingtube long enough, you can find all these "Variations" and even more. It certainly is a spectrum and as long as each partner is getting what they need then, in my book, its cool.
