I don't recall any difficulty in communicating with Bacall when we married. It took decades to develop. Now, extracting the answer to a simple question takes three tries. If I ask her if she can think of anything I don't already have on the grocery list, I open a channel for a one-word reply, Yes or No. Those are never the first words out of her mouth. Her reply sounds like the start of a long story. I interrupt her, I am not interested in that right now, only if you can think of something not already on the list. Her second reply will be a shorter story. My blood pressure increases, and I usually get a useful reply on the third try.
I asked her to write the dialogue that might happen between two couples when the women are told they will be spanked. This is what I got. Not bad. But not what I asked for. I will try again.
I can’t be spanked because:
1. I’m just so cute and have a precious smile
2. Surely you aren’t mean enough to hurt me
3. It will have to wait until my nails are dry
4. Only bratty girls get spanked, and I’m not bratty, just a little sassy
5. I need to cook dinner
6. Most importantly, I have a serious problem. Sometimes, and I don’t know why, but I get the giggles, and that just makes you want to spank harder. I’m afraid you would hurt yourself, and that would make me very sad.
Methinks your better half is enjoying being a little bratty, as well as sassy. We all know what you should do before asking her a second time to answer your question...
