The First Time

I made a post this morning. It's gone - poof. I have no idea what happened. The text is not recoverable, but I got the images off a backup of my hard disk.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first time we discussed spanking with another couple was a year or two after we got married. They were about our age and lived in the neighborhood. I knew him from college. They came over for dinner and I am sure copious amounts of alcohol.
He started talking about how they spanked their young boy, about six as I recall. They used a fly swatter. He continued on about it, I suppose a little too long and I said without thinking (my usual form) What do you spank her (his wife) with?
Before he could reply, she said A belt.
Mutual revelations continued for some time. But we all kept our clothes on. I thought the evening ended on a high note, but I don't recall seeing them again.
    1. Like most men, you are not verbose, but your comment is appreciated.
  2. I like he's got a steadying hand on the small of her back in the second paddling photos. It's not only a reminder to hold still, but also the tactile contact is a reminder of that a tactical weapon is on tap to be deployed. A number of these photos feature big-holed Spencer paddles. Are those a thing with you, Bogey? (I think they're kind of overrated and have a preference for solid wood blades.)
    1. Most pictures featuring paddles feature paddles with holes. They are very popular because almost everyone thinks they are superior. You are I pan them. I did a post on the subject back in February. https://ourbottomsburn.blogspot.com/2025/02/holes-or-no-holes.html
  4. Thanks for pointing me to your post about whether the effect of holes is real or bogus, Bogey. I love that science experiment you carried out to test the putative effect.
    Your noting that almost everyone *thinks* holey paddles are superior is an aspect that the AI answer you got back did not delve into: a potential psychological effect. Like you say, it is widely BELIEVED that holes make a significant difference. And, true fact or not, mind games can, in fact, be a significant (and fun to foster) factor in how a spankee experiences her swats. Further research may be indicated. Show those same nieces the paddles before you wield them and see whether they claim they can feel a difference!
  5. Should you have some ability with AI, perhaps you can glean some kind of answer to the psychological effect? If so, I would publish it on OBB
    On another tack, I would sometimes get all my paddles out for a paddle party. I would ask them to select the first paddle to be used on them. Every time they choose the longest, thickest, and widest one. (It was not the meanest one, but looks are deceptive.)
    1. I'm not expert at priming an AI pump (which will spew out whatever B.S. it finds on the internet), but I gave this question a whirl.
      I asked:
      Leaving aside the physics determining the force of impact, are there psychological elements that make it seem worse to be spanked with a paddle with holes in it than with one with similar dimensions, weight, and type of wood?
      Google AI responded as follows, providing support for a psychological effect (though some of what it pulls up is tripe, IMHO. I mean, have y'all ever met a spankee who whines about having "trypophobia"?!)
      AI OVERVIEW
      Assuming that the physical force of impact is equal, there are several psychological elements that can make a spanking seem worse with a perforated paddle. These factors can heighten anxiety and emotional distress before and during the punishment.
      INTIMIDATION AND THREAT
      Symbolic threat. The holes in the paddle act as a clear, visible sign that the implement is designed for inflicting maximum pain. This visual detail creates a heightened sense of intimidation and a more significant psychological threat than a solid paddle.
      Deliberate design. Knowing that the holes were specifically engineered for punishment suggests an intention to maximize discomfort. This deliberate cruelty, whether real or perceived, can feel more malicious than an action taken with a simple, solid object.
      ANTICIPATION AND ANXIETY
      The "buzz" or sound. As the holed paddle moves through the air, it can create a distinctive "whooshing" or buzzing sound. This aural cue can increase anticipation and dread as the recipient waits for the inevitable strike. The sound becomes a built-in trigger for anxiety, possibly worse than the quiet approach of a solid paddle.
      The wait. The psychological impact of corporal punishment is often rooted in the anticipation of the event. Seeing or hearing the specialized paddle can increase this pre-punishment anxiety, making the waiting period more stressful and emotionally taxing.
      FOCUS ON CONSEQUENCES AND HUMILIATION
      Exaggerated markings. Paddles with holes often leave more distinct, patterned marks on the skin. A person who knows they will bear these specific imprints may feel a greater sense of shame or humiliation. The patterned bruises act as a "proof" of the punishment, creating a more memorable and potentially embarrassing physical consequence.
      Increased focus on pain. The visual marks, along with the "hornet-like" sting sensation sometimes described, make the focus of the punishment the inflicted pain itself, rather than the behavior that prompted it. This can reinforce a feeling of helplessness and emotional distress, as the pain is what is most vividly remembered.
      INVOLUNTARY REACTIONS
      Trigger for discomfort. For some people, particularly those with trypophobia (aversion to clustered holes), the sight of the holed paddle can trigger a visceral reaction of disgust or discomfort before any physical contact is made. This adds a layer of distress that is unrelated to the physical strike but contributes to the overall negative psychological experience.
  7. Back from the UK , and enjoying catching up. love this post and Green Eggs and Ham's A/I presentation. I few months ago, I asked A/I the question based on just the physics without the psychological impact and got much the same answer effective no difference in impact. But, I failed to ask the follow up question like you did! Brilliant! Loved EVERY pic here today!!
  8. Thanks, Jacknpgh, and Bogey for posting on 9/16/2025 the follow-up with the excellent photos of holey and solid wood paddles being displayed and applied.
